Medications to Come off Heroin and Time Taken to Come out of Addiction

Heroin is an illegal and highly destructive drug. It is s semi synthetic drug processed from morphine, which is derived from the seed extract of certain poppy plants. Heroin is scheduled as one drug, which states that it is a set of most addictive and perilous drugs. Heroin has severe effects in our body. It highly effects brain and stops its ability to function properly. Heroin is the top reported drug, which can lead to death by hepatitis B and C, Tuberculosis, HIV and other fatal diseases.

There are different alternatives to prevent usage of heroin. Result of a favorable treatment requires some form of psychotherapy, strict monitoring of medication observance and effective behavior intrusion. There are in house treatments, which can prove very expensive, but medical treatments are proven and are highly effective.

One of the most effectual and successful way to treat heroin addiction is through long acting synthetic opiates like Methadone and Spuboxin. Methadone is considered safe in the heroin addiction and produces excellent results during treatment. It is full of opiod, which relieves all withdrawal symptoms thus offering an opportunity to work and live like a normal human being. Spuboxin is the best preference to lessen the craving level of the patient. This treatment has been safely used as an anti heroin treatment from the past 30 years.

Another effective medicine, which is used as an excellent remedy in reducing drug addiction, is buprenorphine. It was approved by FDA and is the first narcotic drug, which can be prescribed by physicians. It is more beneficial than methadone as it is given to the patient on alternative days instead of daily dosage of methadone. It produces instant results in the recovery of the patient. Beprenorphine aids to ease the withdrawal symptoms by stimulating the opiate receptors but in a controlled way, which does not produce immense effects of euphoria which heroin would produce.

Naltrexone is the adversary medication, which confines the heroin receptors but does not activate them. This is an excellent substitute for patients who are in early stages and want total freedom from the addiction. Naltrexone obstructs the pleasure seeking power of the brain when craving for narcotics. It blocks the opiods receptors and averts the body from reacting to these drugs. This can be taken as orally once in a day or on alternative days varying to the severity of the problem. It has the least side effects and is addiction free.

Apart from these medicines various behavioral, residential and outpatient counseling therapies are there to meet the physiological mechanisms which create craving in patients. These produce excellent results when combined with the selected prescribed medications, which are meant for heroin treatment and withdrawal management. It is not advised to adopt self-treatments as these can be painful and can be fatal.

The rehabilitation process is slow and time taking but results in a hopeful recovery from heroin addiction. Recovery time depends upon the age, weight, health condition, period, and potency of the addicted patient. Patients require moral, emotional and physical support from family and well-wishers during this period.
